Who We Are
With a growing number of roads and bridges in disrepair, and a limited amount of resources available for determining viable solutions, there was a need for an agent to facilitate the identification, selection and construction of existing and new processes for addressing these needs.
S Drain Engineering of IL, LLC was founded with the idea of aiding agencies and contractors in the understanding, design, construction and preservation of roadways and the associated facilities.
Through site evaluation, process review, specification creation and modification and construction site support, S Drain Engineering is a consulting firm that provides the necessary assistance to build and maintain strong and sustainable roads, bridges and highways.
Our Experience
S Drain Engineering of IL, LLC brings more than 30 years of experience in construction materials engineering and more than 12 years of expertise with road construction and recycling.
The firm has a combined knowledge and certifications in multiple areas including: Hot Mix Asphalt design and testing, soil assessment, Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) concrete testing, aggregate quality inspection, pavement recycling applications and preservation systems.
With previous employers that included the Illinois Department of Transportation and Koch Materials Company, Principal Engineer Stephanie Drain worked as a member of the Field Engineering Group for SemMaterials, LP before forming the consulting firm with her father, Robert Drain in 2009.
Robert Drain has more than 35 years of experience in the construction industry. He worked for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) for more than three decades managing the planning, placement and performance of PCC and other materials associated with the development and expansion of numerous projects. Most notably, he contributed to the successful completion of multiple segments of the Deep Tunnel system of the MWRD Tunnel and Reservoir Project (TARP).
